All-rounder Arshin’s father wanted his son to follow his dreams and not take the familial path of medicine.

Arshin Kulkarni justifies early sacrifices victory over Afghanistan in U19 Asia Cup

Last Friday, a player who is good at both batting and bowling, took a significant step in making his father happy. He played his first match for India's under-19 team against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup.

In the game, he scored 70 runs and bowled well, taking 3 wickets while giving away 29 runs in 8 overs.

One day, Arshin’s coaches in Solapur, Salim Khan and Tilak, told Atul that his son was so talented that he had to shift to Pune, some 250km from Solapur, to polish his game and if he was serious about being a professional cricketer.

He was a leg-spinner, who can bat before but his coaches in the nets felt that with his body, he can try medium-pace too. So during his under-16 days, he began to bowl medium-pace and became the all-rounder.
